Mobile Presence

The reality of being in business is that you always have to make the customers aware of your presence. In this time and age, mobile is where the customers are, or soon will be. More brands are using mobile marketing as a pivotal part of their campaigns. Mobile apps and/or mobile websites are excellent to have in your marketing mix.

A mobile website should be designed to perform numerous functions and many of which take advantage of the phone’s unique functions. It’s important to understand that the mobile is a whole new different arena, and the user’s expectations are different.

The growing trend today is building an app for businesses. Especially with Apple’s Itunes App store and the recent launch of the Mac App store.  One of the said disadvantages is that Apps are limited to smartphones. But times are evolving and the smartphone market has boomed. The continuous upgrades and development of this technology has made them incredibly satisfying to use. There’s no comparison to the extent of functionality and massive data of smartphones compared to the old-school mobile phones. Smartphone users are the bigger market for mobile internet. They are more likely to use/maximize their devices to the fullest making them a great audience you need to consider despite their smaller number.

It’s a worthy debate to either build an App or a mobile website, but another trend is worth nothing. Whether it be an app or mobile website, content is king. Remember the basics, design for performance and usability. The availability of devices and the internet means more moments when consumers will interact and get better user experiences, which keeps them active and coming back for more.
