The Best Footer Designs (0)Add to My Brief

David Cheng | 23/04/2008

Once the afterthought of website design, recently there has been a Footer revival.

The real estate at the bottom of a web page is now being utilized as more than just polish on the apple. Good designers know that each inch of a web page is valuable and are looking for ways to fold more content into footers as part of the experience design of a complete site. This can be as simple contact and copyright information or as rich as a sidebar.

Effective footers drive internal traffic. They bring readers to other in-house articles and blogs, they connect people to useful resources, they link visitors to customer service and expanded brand information. In short, they keep visitors on the website.

Footers can also be a way to integrate some of the data often found in headers and side columns in order to streamline a page. This can be a powerful strategy for optimizing the readability of a site.

Wiliam would like to see some examples of footers you think work well.  Pop Stalin and Devlounge have collected some of their favourites for inspiration.
