Pandora Internet Radio changes the way we listen to musicAdd to My Brief

| 11/10/2006

A muso friend of mine introduced me to this fantastic free technology. How often do you have the radio on at work, enjoying a particular track, only to be disappointed by the one that follows? Pandora Internet Radio works by allowing all of its millions of users to “vote” on a particular song in a playlist, ultimately building a list of artists and songs that you are likely to be into. For example, type in “Metallica” and Pandora will go and intelligently queue up an endless, ad-free, high quality realtime playlist of music by Metallica, as well as artists with a similar sound.

The service is completely ad-free and does not require you to surrender your personal info (apart from email address – but you don’t get any spam); they make their money via links which allow you to buy and download the song from iTunes or Amazon if you like it.

It really is a simple yet powerful concept, and allows everyone from unsigned garage bands to the big guys to have their music heard. Try it for yourself – www.pandora.com
