Umbraco Members Search

Membership profiles these days consist of more than just a username, email address and  password. Umbraco allows you create many dynamic Membership Types through their editor for your sites requirements. You can create different Member Types for your customer profile requirements such as Bronze, Silver and Gold memberships. Using the  Mebership Types editor you can customize each type by adding in fields that are unique to that membership type.

 Once your Members start to flow in one of your main requirements would be the ability to search those members based on information within the membership profile. Unfortunately the built in Members Search in Umbraco provides a very limited range of searching criteria.

This search is adequate if you need to search against main membership details such as Email, Login and Name. But how do you search against all those unique fields? The great thing about Umbraco and its community is the abundance of plug-ins. In this case the Blackpoint Member Admin plug-in. The Blackpoint Member Admin plug-in is a members search tool that allows for searching across all Member Types and their associated fields.

 

By using this plug-in you can search across all Member Types/Groups to gather specific information about your membership profile. Not only that but it also has built in exporting functions so you can load membership details into external applications for further use. The tool will always show the current details of your membership definitions so there is no need to custom build search code when new fields are added to the database.
