Web Apps for iPadAdd to My Brief

Wendy Wang | 27/04/2010

These days many websites have mobile versions of their site, as the recent arrival of the Apple iPad, there will be a large demand for the tablet-optimized websites. As for the iPad’s 9.7-inch screen, the websites will need to be sized down and the widgets will be used more.

The iPad has a mature WebKit implementation.   The WebKit now supports HTML5, such as local storage and web sockets, which are essential for desktop quality web applications. As iPhone and iPad don’t support Flash, the only solution is HTML5 video / SVG.

WebKit also supports CSS3 features, like the transformations, transitions, and animations. The WebKit in iPad is so powerful now that web apps may someday take over the native apps. I am looking forward to seeing the transition.
