Social Networking - Trend or Fad? (0)Add to My Brief

David Cheng | 9/07/2008

A recent article appearing on news.com.au - titled "Employers embrace social networking" - has found 33 per cent of managers in their 20s and 30s embrace Myspace and Facebook as a medium to reach "untapped" business opportunities.

However, comments left by readers of this article were divided on the issue of embracing new technology for business creation verus wasting company resources.

From a business' perspective, Social networking can be a powerful medium to create brand dialogues - as has been proven by iconic Aussie brands such as Tim Tams, Breville, Vegemite etc. Nevertheless, a business must identify before jumping into the band wagon the fit between their target audience (either their employeees or customers) and their chosen method of communication (as with all communication efforts).
