Wiliam recently designed an educational platform to provide interactive learning for Skwirk Interactive Schooling. We combined our skill, knowledge and understanding of the importance of education and used it to build an innovative solution.

Skwirk Interactive Schooling website
Skwirk is an interactive schooling and tuition website which provide young users with on-line quizzes, educational content, activities and most importantly the tracking and encouragement of each user’s weekly progress.
Throughout the design process Skwirk Interactive Schooling was straightforward with Wiliam about their demands. Design a website that creates enthusiasm for learning, but is easy to use and can cater from kindergarten right through to high school kids.
To create and maintain interest, Wiliam implemented a series of innovative web solutions with the Skwirk target demographic in mind to encourage user participation throughout the Skwirk website.
Learning should be fun!
Wiliam created a series of interactive applications and activities including quizzes, vocabulary tests and exams within the website that weren’t just educational but entertaining. Their focus was to monitor progress within the user’s area of interest.
The use of flash, interactive tutorials and other rich video and web content significantly differentiates the Skwirk online learning website from other learning tools such as webCT that are used in Universities across Australia.
Each user is now able to track their progress while participating in a points and rewards system. This will ensure that they are more likely to continually utilise the site to further their education.
A weekly report card style document was also created to keep parents informed of their child’s weekly progress, their scores in relevant quizzes and activities and how they compare to the norm.
Tools to make learning enjoyable.
A ‘highlighter pen’ was created as an original gimmick, to allow users to scan and mark content. Users are able to mark various sections of content within their area of interest, compile a list of highlights and then print them out in a stylised format.
Plans to further develop this function will allow users to download the highlights in audio format to a podcast to listen to on their MP3 players.
This highly innovative design was developed specifically for the Skwirk target audience to encourage users to interact using the website to aid their learning.
Skwirk facts and figures
To create a comprehensive site for Skwirk, an administrative function was produced to generate reports. Skwirk administrators were able to gain quick and direct access to data through a specifically designed and targeted reporting system produced by Wiliam.
They now have the ability to track the growth of the Skwirk website and provide a mechanism to compare the information historically.
As we have with Skwirk, Wiliam hopes to remain as the education sector’s web development choice for intuitive and innovative websites.
