Google is showing us a glimpse of what they can do with their aggregation power. Whilst typical affiliates are being punished, Google are pushing themselves up the top of the searches and why not? If you haven't used google shopping before it is only a matter of time before you do. If you miss the third tab below the search results you would find it difficult to miss the large adwords space reserved for google shopping when they find a match on your search term.

How do I put my Products on google shopping?

Google shopping allows you to compare products between vendors and is monetized by Adwords. It is a good way for the consumer to compare multiple products and looks more like a search results returning products than a typical product aggregation website.

In order to set up Google Shopping you first need to set up a Merchant account which has to get approved by Google. You can then upload your products to Google shopping. There is a manual and an automatic way to do this depending on the volume of products you want to upload. If you are going to upload the products automatically the developer needs to set this up on the backend of the website. This is all explained step by step in the following link; https://support.google.com/merchants/?hl=en#topic=3404818

There are no keywords associated with google shopping ads, google pulls information and matches relevant products to search queries. Google allows you to include a “promotion” with Google Shopping ads units such as promo codes or free shipping, this is a good way to track the sales.

Some stats on google shopping

Compared to its rival Amazon products google sent 120% more traffic to merchants. There has been some questions about the conversion rates of google shopping however google’s study say that it reduces costs per conversion in some cases by 70-80%. The traffic is more relevant and the user is in a buying mindset, the downside of course is your products are compared potentially next to your competitor so you need to be price competitive.
