What is a CDN? The acronym itself it pretty self explanatory....

CONTENT DELIVERY NETWORK

Right, now that we’ve established that, how does it help your site? A CDN effectively distributes your content by caching it at different nodes (globally - dependant on your provider) - minimising the network hop required to deliver your site. This cache comes in the form of HTML, images, javascript, stylesheets etc - fundamentally all the static content that makes up your site.

CDN implementation for your site can be costly dependant on how your webmaster has developed it and ultimately what provider you are utilising.
