A finely built website is like a finely brewed beer

If you are going to be a web developer you better be prepared to cover all the bases. And by that I mean you are going to be learning a lot of tricks and wizardry that is going to confuse a lot of people.

At the end of the day some people are happy if the job gets done while others are happy if the job gets done, is efficient and can allow for dynamic control by the client for things they have not even thought of yet.

Sound impossible? Well, you are probably right. But it is not 100% impossible. I do have to admit that after using Umbraco for several high end client websites that have all the bells and whistles that it gets easer each time.

Umbraco is bringing more tools to the proverbial table and you can resource them at your leisure as you would other peoples code from the stackoverflow website.

A finely built website is like a finely brewed beer, every developer knows that. If you don’t plan it correctly from the beginning you are going to end up with something that is just not useable and should be flushed down the programmers sink of permanent deletion.

Umbraco does allow you to prepare and plan easily with their developers controls.

You can add in a piece of this and a bit of that and fine tune your document types to any clients specifications.

Get the temperatures right and add in the plug-ins available from the Umbraco Packages control and you’ll really be onto something that will come out the other end as a fine tuned product.

One thing to remember as always as a developer is that regardless of the system, if you don’t know what the end product is going to look like and what the desired result is you are going to falter and no amount of adding extra ‘sugar’ is going to fix it.

A proper foundation is the basis and of all code, just as the right temperature and yeast is the best foundation for developer fuel, beer.
