Recycling with City of Sydney Council

As part of Wiliam’s ongoing work for the City of Sydney Council, we recently worked on the Zero Waste website. Zero Waste is an exciting initiative that aims to give people ideas on how to consume less and really think about how waste can be a valuable resource.

As part of the design, we built two flash animations. The first is a counter that vividly displays moment-by-moment how much rubbish has been recycled and displays it in terms that make the impact clear. The other is an engaging questionnaire we invite you to try. In building it, we learned a thing or two about recycling. One great aspect of the quiz is that it’s controlled by XML - allowing the questions, images and responses to be changed in the future.

To build this vibrant, interactive website, we worked with the council’s own web staff. Of the things we can do here at Wiliam is have our designers help existing company teams realize their new ideas. For the City of Sydney, this is a partnership that has worked in the past. We worked on the initial "Sustainable Sydney 2030"; a high-profile website that we created several flash animations for, including artist impressions in 2030 and future maps of the city.
