The hidden cost of the most watched YouTube video of all time

The infamous music video “Gangnam Style” surpassed two billion views on YouTube at the start of this month, making it the most watched clip of all time.

With the video running for 4:12 minutes, its views equate to more than 140 million hours, or more than 16,000 years.

The Economist has put together this clever infograhic which shows what else could have been achieved in the time humans spent galloping with Psy in front of their computer screens to the South Korean’s music video.

Yes, that’s 20 Empire State Buildings, or more than 4 Great Pyramids of Giza, which could have been built in the collective time “Gangnam Style” has been watched by humans since July 2012.
