Mobilegeddon; go mobile or go home

Hailed as ‘mobilegeddon’ google now uses mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal.

‘mobilegeddon' is part of Googles broader goal that focuses on UX factors when ranking sites.

Google wrote:

Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices."

No one is safe from ‘mobilegeddon’ with even the biggest players being affected by googles drastic measures to improve user experience on the web.

A few notable website:

  • American apparel
  • Versace
  • Windows Phone
  • Nintendo
  • MI5

Google doesn’t even judge mobile sites as mobile friendly.

Website owners will need to promptly address their mobile experience, or risk losing their ranking in google.

Google hasn’t left us all completely in the dark. If you are unsure whether your site is mobile friendly, or what you need to do, Google has provided a ‘Mobile-Friendly Test’.

It doesn’t take long clearly states whatyou need to do to make your site mobile-friendly.

If you are one of the lucky ones – you get an ‘awesome’ from the team at Google!!

Unfortunately the answer is obvious and we all need to go mobile or go home!!
