iPhones Take-up Continues to IncreaseAdd to My Brief

Since its release in June 2007, the iPhone has seen persistent growth that is expected to continue as noted by market share that has now seen the iPhone reach a 21% market share in Australia. This is largely due to the release of the 3rd generation iPhone 3GS, as reported by IDC.

The iPhone has successfully positioned itself in second place, with Nokia still continuing to lead the number of mobile devices in circulation – with Blackberry closely following the iPhone (ComputerWorld).

Whilst some business’s still maintain a ‘wait and see’ approach, others are jumping on the band wagon early and conducting their own internal research by leveraging off the benefits of branded apps that provide their business offerings in a easily accessible and highly addictive format – iPhone apps.

As reported by Morgan Stanley Internet analyst Mary Meeker at the recent web 2.0 summit in San Francisco, the growth prospect of mobile web usage in the mainstream is positive as depicted in the ‘AT&T 50x Mobile Data Traffic Increase in Past 3 Years’ slide in which to a degree can be attributed to the increased iPhone adoption by users.
