Designing Google Gadget Ads (0)Add to My Brief

Google is now allowing Australian advertisers to their rich and interactive new ad format called Google Gadget Ads.

What are Google Gadget Ads? Gadget ads are the next generation of Google advertising. This dynamic new ad format breaks out of the usual static box.

Google gadget ads are much like widgets and can include dizzying variety of content like video, animation, data feeds, maps, images, music and audio or JavaScript. They can be coded in plus they can be developed in Flash and HTML. Additionally, they can be built in any number of shapes, sizes, and formats.

The ads require user initiation to begin any animation or audio, so they won’t be intrusive. They can be used without people having to leave the webpage they were originally, which users find more attractive.

To expand the usefulness, Google offers libraries that allow designers to pull data from feeds, to add tabs, to drag & drop and to localize the content. The gadget ads will run through the same advertising program that Google offers for its other ads, which reaches 75 percent of unique Internet users.

The result is an exciting new way to engage potential customers.  It provides value to advertisers and a fun ad experience for users.
