Network Ten Add to My Brief

Entertainment » Network Ten

Network Ten is one of Australia's largest commercial television networks with owned and operated stations in major capital cities and regional areas throughout Australia.

When Network Ten gained the rights to the Australian version of “So You Think You Can Dance”, the network approached Wiliam prior to the launch of show to conceptualise and develop a viral marketing campaign.

Client Objective:

  • Network Ten Australia recognised that the audience (16-35 age demographic) of “So You Think You Can Dance” was similar to that of Facebook’s audience. As such Network Ten wanted to create an application that was fun and would spread virally via Facebook friends, whilst promoting directly promoting the show.

Wiliam’s Solution:

  • Wiliam’s creative team wanted to create a Facebook Application that was interactive and allowed users to “dance”. The application was developed in Flash using Box2D Physics Engine to mimic human and physical movement.

  • After users install the Facebook Application, they can upload a photo of themselves, then using the arrow keys on the keyboard move the dancer around. The movement is then recorded and saved on your Facebook Profile for your friends to play and watch. Friends can even rate your dancing style.

Successful Outcome:

  • The viral marketing application created by Wiliam was installed thousands of times by Facebook users and contributed to the show’s high rating audience, an average of 1.5 million viewers watched each episode.
  • Network Ten promoted the Facebook Application on the official So You Think You Can Dance website.
