How Should I Vote

GetUp recognised more than 10% of voters wait until they hit the polling booths before deciding which party would gain their vote - an online tool needed to be created to connect members of the Australia public with their corresponding candidates, based on their political views to make an informative decision.
In conjunction with GetUp, Wiliam designed a comprehensive Election 2.0 portal that allows candidates from every Australian Political Party across all electorates to be matched with members of the voting public through the completion of quiz’s – allowing users to receive clear and concise views without all the media hype.

Client Objective:

• GetUp.org.au wanted to create a website to allow the voting public to identify with the candidate party that best identifies with their personal political views.


• Incorporate a fun, exuberant, information design that leaves the website uncluttered.

Wiliam’s Solution:

• Howshouldivote.com.au features an interactive quiz which enables users to determine who they should vote for in a fun and captivating approach.


• A personalised how-to-vote card is generated upon the user’s submission of the quiz, incorporating Web 2.0 features within the site, ensuring content is tailored and user generated.


• Statistical reports are able to be generated via Sitedock™, Wiliam’s industry leading content management system, to enable GetUp to obtain and measure specific details about users – such as their age, how many users and candidates have completed surveys and profiles and how many users are from certain electorates.

Successful Outcome:

• GetUp now has a powerful web 2.0 online tool, independent from media, image and campaign material to present to users with clear political issues directly from candidates in their electorate.
