After successfully developing Radio Rentals, Rentlo and Cash First websites, Thorn Australia approached Wiliam to develop their new retail ecommerce website, Big Brown Box.

Developed on Wiliam’s Sitedock CMS platform, Big Brown Box offers Australian consumers the ability to buy electrical goods online in the home theatre, whitegoods and portal electronic categories and offers free delivery to anywhere in Australia.

Wiliam’s pre-production team started with development of the Functional Specification which included various business requirement workshops and extensive competitor analysis through to wireframe development and user journeys. From there the site was designed and developed to reach market before Christmas trading commenced.

Essential to the success of the site, Big Brown Box’s inventory was fully integrated into Thorn Australia’s stock control system which allows the site to publish real time availability of products for consumers.

One of the key features developed for Big Brown Box management is the customised reporting which was purpose built in the CMS to allow real time reporting on sales data as well as profitability and product margins. With this information on hand, staff can quickly discount prices to remain competitive and react quickly to market conditions for both online and offline competitors.
